Most grades have moved to their second projects, except for 4th and 5th grade, which have gotten behind because of assemblies and various school activities. I am glad to see that 4th and 5th grades are finishing up with their desserts. They are turning out beautifully.
Kindergarten and first grade were introduced to the concept of torn paper collages and backgrounds last week. They love being able to tear colorful paper and exclaim "a dot not alot"...while gluing. This rhyme seems to help those students who enjoy making puddles of Elmer's on their paper. After their collages are done..they will be creating robots to add to the piece. This project was inspired by the Robot and Butterfly project from Iowa City....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JvPopzegAI
while we aren't doing stop motion we are creating a 2-D project that is similar to this idea.
Second and Third grade have started on their glue outline drawings of pumpkins just in time for Autumn. They created pumpkin patches complete with vines and leaves. They have just started to color them with chalk. This is great project to discuss the elements of line and value.
Please enjoy our photos! I've included some of my own photos from the beautiful leaves of Burlington.
