All grades are focusing on using shapes to draw objects. Drawing is all about putting shapes together in different ways. Focusing on shapes is a great way for students to simplify the process of drawing.
This week Kindergarteners and 1st graders got started on a lesson after we read the book, The Rainbow Fish. They will be creating their own rainbow fish using crayons and watercolor paints.
2nd and 3rd graders began their lesson after we read the book, Where the Wild Things Are.
Students will be building their own scary monsters, along with giving their creations a name.
4th and 5th graders learned about 92 year old painter, Wayne Thiebaud. Thiebaud is considered a "Pop Artist" and gained fame in the 1960s with his colorful dessert paintings. Students began mapping out their ideas for their own dessert oil pastel painting. Students that have art class before lunch have been very hungry lately ;) They would like to eat their art work!
